Milestones

  2009
  • Crescendas unveiled its chain of executive class hotels under the branding, Aqueen Hotels. The first Aqueen Hotel located on Balestier Road welcomed its first guests on 8 May 2009.


  2008
  • On 10 July 2008, Crescendas unveiled plans to raise its investment in Lao P.D.R with the development of the second phase of Talat Sao Mall. The expansion is expected to add new excitement and vibrancy to downtown Vientiane with plans that include both retail and commercial space.



  • On 2 April 2008, Cresendas Bionix celebrated the groundbreaking of Biopolis Phase III, a biomedical research facility. Crescendas is the first privately owned Singapore company to be awarded a large-scale development project on Biopolis @ one-north.



  2007
  • Mr Lim Hng Kiang, Minister for Trade and Industry, officiated at the opening of the International Furniture Centre on 13 December 2007.



  • Official opening of the Talat Sao Shopping Mall, in Vientiane, Laos, to mark the completion of Phase One development. The official opening took place on 6 April 2007.



  • Established a joint venture with NEPES Corporation of Korea – named NEPES Crescendas Pte Ltd – to market and distribute air and water sterilizers to South East Asia markets.

  2006
  • Announced the development of an International Furniture Centre in the proposed Sungei Kadut Furniture Hub in collaboration with the Singapore Furniture Industries Council. The memorandum of agreement was signed between Crescendas and SFIC on 11 August 2006.

     

  2005
  • Group Chairman Lawrence Leow was appointed Nominated Member of Parliament (NMP) for the 10th Parliament with effect from 2 January 2005.

  • Entered Laotian market in early 2005, with the development of Talat Sao Shopping Mall, the first shopping and entertainment centre in Vientiane, Laos. The ground-breaking ceremony took place in February 2005.


  2003
  • Launched a new name and identity – Crescendas Group – to reflect the diversified nature of its businesses. "Crescendas" which comes from the word "crescendo" signifies "increase", "growth" and "expansion".

  2002
  • Arena Country Club officially opened in the presence of the club’s honorary patron, Dr. Wee Kim Wee (Ex President of Singapore) and also in the presence of Dr. John Chen, Member of Parliament for Hong Kah GRC.

  2000
  • Group Chairman Lawrence Leow was named Entrepreneur of the Year – A Rotary ASME Award.

  1999
  • Leisure business expanded with the construction of the Arena Country Club in Upper Jurong Road.

  1994
  • Diversified into the leisure and hospitality business with the development of the first Singaporean-owned business class hotel in Yangon, Myanmar.

  1993
  • The electronics business expanded into Malaysia with the setting up of a new manufacturing plant in Johor, Malaysia.

  1992
  • Incorporated Crescendas MEC Pte Ltd to spearhead the Group's electronics manufacturing business. The company is a joint venture with Molex Singapore, a subsidiary of Molex Inc. of USA.

  1989
  • Entered into the electronics business and appointed as the first distributor for Molex interconnection products.

  1987
  • Integrated transportation business into warehousing. Constructed its first warehouse in Tuas, Singapore.

  1982
  • Lawrence Leow founded the company that eventually evolved into the Crescendas Group of today. The business established was in transportation services.
